With these two professional Stortz tools you can cut, punch, and install roofing slates. 

Hammer (Stortz Model 83-B, or 83C):  25.4 oz. (720 grams); hammering face is 3/4" X 7/8", hammer overall is 12.75" long with 8.5" head. This is a traditional slate hammer with a beveled shank for cutting roofing slate. It is forged of high quality tool steel and made in Germany to the most exacting standards. The point, claw and hammer face are specially heat treated to withstand tough use. The claw at the center of the head is made for pulling nails without damaging the slate. The beveled edge on the midsection is used for cutting and trimming slate. An all leather handle is included.
 
Stortz 85A Straight Stake,  2.2 lbs., 20" wide: This is the traditional steel slater's stake to be used in conjunction with hammers for trimming heavier slates on site. 20" long blade length, 2.2 lbs., 1 1/4" X 1/4" bar stock. Made in USA.
