SOLAR PANELS

The Solar SnowMax-Universal snow rail system for solar or photovoltaic panels is an array-mounted fence-style system installed at the lowest edge of the solar panel array.  The distance needed between the panels is 3/8", enough room to allow the t-nut to fit between them.  

Requires a horizontal bar, either mill finish or with an optional colored Insert Strip. Stock Colors available for the Optional Insert Strip (click on image to download PDF):

OPTIONS:

SG-SSM-U-BRKT: This is the middle bracket that holds the 2" bar. The black bracket is the icon image for SnowMax Universal.

SG-SSM-END-BRKT: End Bracket (pre-assembled) to hold the 2" Bar.

SG-SSM-2"-BAR: 2" Bar (8' length, includes splice plate). Mill Finish aluminum.

SG-SNOWMAX-BLKINSERT: Black insert for the 2" Bar.  Ideal for matching the color of the solar array.

SG-SNOWMAX-CLRINSERT: Choose a color insert from the Kynar Color Chart, found under Descriptions. Indicate the color of choice in the Notes during Checkout.

SG-SSM-U-LEVELING-SHIM: Leveling Shim

Depending on the solar array's size, pitch, and location, Alpine solar snow retention components can be installed alone or, for best performance, in combination with another solar snow guard such as the Snow Dog or the SSG-313.

Alpine snow guards innovated the market’s first and only solar snow management system. With almost a decade of research and development, we’ve developed a three-part system that has been rigorously performance tested at our in-house research facility. 

Installing SSG-313 roof-mounted pipe-style snow management system is strongly recommended as an additional barrier when a minimum 24” landing zone is available below the array. The SSG-313 is intended to be installed in-line with the outer most load bearing wall. It is intended to slow the movement of snow and ice off the panels; limiting the chance for a large mass to evacuate all at once, similar to an avalanche. Best snow retention performance is achieved when it is paired with Solar Snow Dog and Solar SnowMax-Universal fence-style system. 

The SSG-313 is also a viable snow management option for new and existing asphalt shingle roofing.
