One U.S. made Stortz 84A Slate Ripper. This is a well-made professional tool that you can't be without if you work on slate roofs. The Stortz 100-A Slate Ripper has a reinforced handle to allow for harder hammer strikes. The extra weight in the handle sometimes allows for pulling out the nails with only a jerk of the arm and not a hammer strike.  

One professional Stortz 95-FB Slate Cutter. This tool cuts both concave and convex curves to match existing slates, as well as makes straight cuts and can easily be carried and used on the roof where it's needed most. It also has a heavy-duty hole punch.

With these two professional Stortz tools you can cut, punch, and install roofing slates. 

Hammer (Stortz Model 83-B, or 83C):  25.4 oz. (720 grams); hammering face is 3/4" X 7/8", hammer overall is 12.75" long with 8.5" head. This is a traditional slate hammer with a beveled shank for cutting roofing slate. It is forged of high quality tool steel and made in Germany to the most exacting standards. The point, claw and hammer face are specially heat treated to withstand tough use. The claw at the center of the head is made for pulling nails without damaging the slate. The beveled edge on the midsection is used for cutting and trimming slate. An all leather handle is included.

Standard Slate Hooks, 25 Lb Box

Slate hooks are used during slate roof repair or installation of slates on a new roof where scaffolding or roof jacks were temporarily nailed to the roof. Some slaters use nothing but slate hooks for repair work, as they are easier than nail and bib when working with new or especially dense slate. All hooks have blunt points for safety.

*Copper is a softer metal, and should be used on softer boards. 

*Anodized stainless steel is stronger than copper, and is recommended for hard lumbers and roof decking that will bend copper. Black anodized steel is not shiny, long-lasting, and relatively invisible.

*Electro-galvanized steel will eventually rust and will not last as long as stainless steel, but is a good choice for asbestos-shingle roofs or for a roof with around 25 years of life remaining.

This slate hammer is not meant to be used with a slate ripper. Use a slater's restoration hammer such as the Picard 0079010 Roofers Hammer for beating slate rippers.

A slate hammer is a necessary tool for any slate roofer. It’s lightweight and multi-purpose, to cut and trim slate, punch holes in slate, and drive nails during installation. Cutting thicker slates (thicker than 1/4") is also possible with the use of a hammer and stake.

The iron comes with a medium copper turbo tip. This soldering iron is ultra-light and ultra-strong, and this is our most popular Express soldering kit. The innovative ergonomic handle offers a convenient thumb controlled on and off switch, plus a push button igniter with up to 50,000 quick starts.
